A Worthy Experience

Each village we arrived at to distribute bedkits was very different in appearance. The only thing that remained constant was the ear-to-ear grin and the sparkling eyes of the children who waited for hours to receive their much needed gifts. Some of the mothers actually cried in appreciation when they saw the contents of the bedkits. The children loved to get their pictures taken and then to be able to see themselves seconds later on the viewing screen of the digital camera.

Our reception in Kalyan India was most enjoyable as there to greet us was a drum and bugle band and we were presented with a har (lei in Hindi) of flowers and all of the team members were sprinkled with flower petals. Everything at Kalyan was very well organized which made the distribution so much more enjoyable

The twenty-two distributions went by so quickly that it is hard believe that it has come to an end. Most importantly, I think that our distribution team has hopefully formed a lasting friendship for years to come and the hospitality of the Rotarians from each distribution was greatly appreciated after a long day in the hot sun.

I am so humbled to be able to participate in such an uplifting experience. I hope that this is my first of many more trips in the future.
